North Carolina Licensed Attorney - Professional Engineer - Professional Land Surveyor The way I came to real estate sales is different than every other agent. That’s right; there is no licensed agent like me in North Carolina! Let me explain. To get started, most agents merely take the minimum courses required by the NC Real Estate Commission and then take the licensing examination. While I did take a class and test over 20 years ago, I did not go into the sale of real estate. Instead, I pursued learning real estate for over 20 years. With two decades of knowledge, education and experience behind me, I have developed a firm that focuses on knowledge and integrity. My real property experience began as a land surveyor. For nearly 25 years, I have surveyed properties of all kinds: residential, farm, commercial and construction sites to name just a few. All total, I have completed hundreds of surveys. This survey work, coupled with my increasing engineering knowledge in site, roadway and drainage design culminated in me being licensed in North Carolina as a Professional Engineer and Professional Land Surveyor. It is more difficult to become a licensed surveyor and engineer than to be licensed as a real estate agent. Generally speaking, a minimum of 4-8 years experience in the field of engineering and/or land surveying is required plus a four year engineering degree. For me, I had over 8 years of experience before taking the Professional Land Surveyor exam. Similarly, to take the engineering exam, I practiced 8 years as a civil engineer to become licensed. During the many years working in real estate development, planning, design and surveying, I developed an interest to pursue a greater role in the world of real estate and started planning for law school. Adding law to my experience as an engineer and surveyor was interesting. When taking real estate classes at Campbell University School of Law, it was very easy for me to understand the examples and reasons behind the legal cases because of my surveying and engineering history. After three years of studying law where I focused my education on real estate related classes as much as I could, I graduated and began working as an NC Attorney nearly 8 years ago. During my time as an attorney, I have almost completely focused my practice in real estate related areas. The total of my experiences and past offers me much insight as a real estate agent, of which I am grateful to have acquired. In fact, I often see problems before others even realize something might go wrong. Moreover, after handling extremely stressful negotiations as a part of litigation, helping you negotiate against another real estate agent is simple by comparison. In summary, I want to use all my experience and education to make your real estate purchase or sell a total success.
